The living room is often the heart of the home, where family and friends gather to relax and spend time together. This often means it can become untidy, but by implementing these tips, you can keep your living room tidy and make it a comfortable and inviting space for your family and guests to enjoy.
1. Start With Decluttering

Ron Lach
Begin by getting rid of anything that doesn't belong in the living room or that you no longer use. This will help to free up space and make it easier to keep the room organised.
2. Have a Designated Area For Everything

Beazy
Assign specific areas for items such as remote controls, books, and magazines. This will make it easier to find what you need and prevent clutter from accumulating.
3. Keep a Cleaning Caddy

Hakim Santoso
Keep a cleaning caddy or basket stocked with essential cleaning supplies like dusting cloths, glass cleaner, and surface cleaner. This way, you can quickly grab the supplies you need when you spot a mess or want to do a quick touch-up
4. Designate a "Drop Zone"

Ron Lach
Create a designated area near the entrance of the living room as a "drop zone" for items like keys, wallets, and mail. Use a small tray or bowl to hold these essentials, preventing them from cluttering other surfaces.
5. Organise Electronics

Matt Wildbore
Keep electronics like gaming consoles, DVD players, and cables organised by using cable management solutions and having a dedicated area for them. This helps prevent tangled cords and keeps the area around your entertainment setup neat.
6. Use Storage Furniture

George Milton
Invest in furniture pieces that provide additional storage, such as bookcases, sideboards, shelves, or media consoles. These pieces can help you keep items, like books, DVDs, toys, and other knick-knacks, out of sight while still being easily accessible when needed.
7. Keep A Basket Or Bin For Toys

Keira Burton
If you have children or pets, establish boundaries to keep their toys, bedding, and play areas contained. Keep a basket or bin in the living room where they can easily put away their toys when they're finished playing.
8. Clean As You Go

Ron Lach
Make a habit of putting things away as soon as you're done using them. This will prevent clutter from building up and make cleaning easier in the long run.
9. Set A Cleaning Schedule

Polina Tankilevitch
Create a regular cleaning schedule for your living room. This can include tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and wiping down surfaces.
10. Encourage Others To Tidy Up

Gustavo Fring
Make sure everyone who uses the living room knows where things belong and encourage them to put things away when they're done.
